UGC ads built for paid social, with hooks, variants and paid rights
A UGC ad is not a nice video that happens to run with a budget behind it. It is a clip built around a scroll stopping first second, cut in the right aspect ratio, delivered with spare hooks for testing and licensed for paid use from day one. UgcModels lets you book adult, ID verified creators who film exactly that, with the paid usage tier written into the order.
Why ads need a different brief than organic posts
An organic post can take its time. A paid placement gets a fraction of a second before the thumb moves on, and the platform charges you for every impression that does not convert. That changes what you ask a creator for. The opening line or visual has to carry the whole promise, the product has to appear early, captions have to work with the sound off, and the clip has to end with a clear next step.
Paid use also changes the paperwork. A creator who agreed to a post on your feed has not agreed to have their face in an ad that runs for a year. On UgcModels you pick the rights tier when you book, the creator sees it before accepting, and a rights record is stored on every asset. When someone asks in month nine whether that clip is still cleared, the answer sits on the order. The UGC usage rights guide covers each tier.
Hooks are the part you test most
Most of the learning in UGC ads happens in the first three seconds. Instead of reshooting a whole video, book hook variants: alternative openings that lead into the same body and close. Each hook variant costs USD 25 to 50 and is available on Growth and higher plans. One solid 30 s body with four hooks gives you five ads to test.
Hook angles that creators handle well:
- A problem said out loud in the creator's own words.
- A surprising product moment, such as a texture, a pour, a click or a fold.
- A reaction shot before the product is even named.
- A direct callout to the audience the ad targets.
- A comparison to the way the viewer does it today.
- A visual result shown first, then explained.
Write the hook angles into the brief and leave room for the creator's own phrasing. People can tell when a line was pasted from a slide.

Formats and aspect ratios for each placement
Vertical 9:16 is the default for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Stories and YouTube Shorts, with key text kept away from the bottom and right edges where the interface sits. Meta feed placements do well in 4:5. Ask for captions burned in or for a clean version plus a caption file, depending on who edits. If your editor builds the final cuts, add the raw footage add-on so you receive the unedited takes.
| Ad element | What to order | Platform rate band |
|---|---|---|
| Short ad | 15 s clip | USD 100 to 200 |
| Standard ad | 30 s clip | USD 150 to 300 |
| Long story ad | 60 s clip | USD 200 to 450 |
| Test openings | Hook variant | USD 25 to 50 each |
| Editor material | Raw footage add-on | USD 40 to 100 |
| Static ads and carousels | Photo set of 5 | USD 120 to 250 |
Creators set their rate inside these bands and keep all of it. Your plan's platform fee goes on top. See UGC creator pricing for the fee per plan.
Paid usage rights and what they add
Organic use on your own channels is included in every rate. Paid use adds an uplift to the creator rate, chosen per order:
| Rights tier | Uplift on the creator rate | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Organic only | Included | Your own feed and website |
| Paid ads 3 months | Plus 30 percent | First test flight |
| Paid ads 12 months | Plus 60 percent | Winning ad kept in rotation |
| Perpetual | Plus 100 percent | Evergreen ads, product pages, packaging |
A practical rule is to license 3 months for a test batch, then upgrade the winners in a new order rather than paying perpetual on every clip up front. If you plan to run ads from the creator's own account, which TikTok calls Spark Ads and Meta calls partnership ads, read the TikTok UGC creator page for the extra authorization step.
Organic only, included in the rate. Best for posting on your own TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
Paid ads, 3 months, plus 30 percent. Best for testing creative on Meta and TikTok ads.
Paid ads, 12 months, plus 60 percent. Best for winners you plan to scale.
Perpetual, plus 100 percent. Best for Amazon listings and product pages that stay up for years.
How to book a batch of UGC ads
- Filter the roster by platform, format, setting and rate, then shortlist several creators.
- Send one brief to the whole shortlist with a casting call on Growth and higher, or book creators one by one.
- Set the rights tier, number of hook variants and aspect ratios in the order.
- Receive delivery in about 5 business days and use up to 2 revision rounds.
- Approve, and payment is released to the creator. Without a response it is released 5 days after delivery.
If you are new to briefing for ads, start with the UGC brief template, then build a draft from your filters in the casting brief tool.
Volume buyers and the platform fee
Teams that refresh creative every week book a lot of orders, and the platform fee is where plans pay for themselves. Starter charges 12 percent per order with up to 5 orders a month, Growth 8 percent with up to 30, Scale 5 percent with up to 120 and Enterprise 3 percent with up to 400. Yearly billing halves the subscription price: Growth costs USD 74 per month billed USD 888 yearly instead of USD 149 monthly.
FAQ
Can one creator deliver both a 9 by 16 and a 4 by 5 version
Yes. Write both aspect ratios into the order. Most creators frame for vertical and leave safe space for a 4 by 5 crop, and you can confirm it on their portfolio clips.
Who writes the script for a UGC ad
You provide the key message, claims and hook angles. The creator turns them into their own words on camera, which keeps the ad from sounding read off a card.
Can I upgrade rights after a test goes well
Yes. Book a new order with the creator for the longer tier on the same asset, and the new rights record replaces the shorter one.
Do I get the raw files
On Growth and higher you can add raw footage to any order for USD 40 to 100, so your editor can cut new versions from the same takes.
